Weekends are hard in terms of healthy eating. Right now, football is on and I know that random snacking and consuming extremely caloric foods is almost like a ritual. Its getting darker outside - which means we are inside and for some reason that makes it seem ok to eat just a little more than usual. When this happens - as it will - I try to arm myself with other ideas on how I can get a sweet fix without going all out and indulging. This is really one of my favorite recipes because a) its easy to make in almost no time b) most of the ingredients are pretty basic and c) its sweet without all of the sugar.
I came across this recipe and really you can substitute the peanut butter for almond butter and the Agave Syrup for Honey. Your favorite vanilla protein powder - I use - Vanilla Shakeology. I also like to use a little dark chocolate - mini dark chocolate chips work really well. And for added bulk - chia seeds, flax seeds, or oatmeal. My husband prefers unsweetened coconut - I will almost always put that in. This recipe (if doubled) - is a great treat to share. But beware - once you make it - everyone will want one or two, so its best to double or triple the recipe. Enjoy!
